Hello, Guys and Girls! This is Daffa, I'm back in 2014 and this will be my first post in 2014.
Anyway, I read a short story. The title is 'The Lottery' by Shirley Jackson. The story was wrote in 1948. So the story tells about a tradition of lottery in a village. But anyone who wins the lottery in the story, he or she will not get\ money, treasure, nor any precious thing. They will die, as a sacrifice from the villagers to God, so they will harvest more corn because they believe that the soul will be in the harvest. The lottery winner will be killed by stones that the villagers throw to him or her. My thoughts on the story; The story was quite exciting at first because I thought that the story was telling about a lottery in terms of gambling. But when I read, the ending was death.

Movie Review - War Horse: The Movie
‘War
Horse: The Movie’ is a 2011 film directed by a famous director, Steven
Spielberg. It is a movie based on a novel by Michael Marpago. The movie stars
are Jeremy as Albert ‘Albie’ Narracott, Peter Mullan as Ted Narracott, Joey
(the horse), and many more. The type of the movie is a war movie, but it’s also
a family movie because the movie doesn’t contain violence and bloody scenes.
The setting of the movie starts at Devon, England, UK during the WWI.
The
story is about the loyalty of a brave, strong horse named Joey to his owner, a
naïve, nice young man named Albert Narracott (A.K.A. Albie). Albie meets Joey
when his father, Ted Narracott wins a horse by bidding in a horse auction. He
buys Joey and brings him home. Ted is a veteran that has a drinking problem. To
forget all of his problems, he drinks. Albie trains Joey until Ted sells him to
Captain James Nicholls (portrayed by Tom Hiddleston) because of the declaration
of war. Albie makes a solemn promise that he would find Joey and brings him
back. Will he fulfill his promise to bring Joey back?
Although
some of the scene have a setting in France, Germany, and No-Man’s Land, but all
of the scenes in the movie was filmed in UK. The acting was quite good. For
your information, the film was the first debut of Jeremy Irvine as a
professional actor. But some of the special effects were quite unrealistic. For
example, in the last scene, the sunset was unrealistic because the color was
too ‘orange’. While in England, the sunset was never as orange as the movie.
The explosions in the war scenes were the reaction of the chemicals. In another
words, the explosions was synthetic.
This movie
is recommended for everyone. With the rating of PG-13, the film is safe from
violence and bloods. And also, the movie can make you cry because of the
dramatic scenes. The movie nominated some awards and won awards. Some of the
awards that they won are; BMI Film and TV Awards as the Best Film-Music, BFCA
Awards as the Best Cinematography, etc. So don’t miss the movie!

Reflection - Argumentative Essay and Debate
Hello, guys and girls. Today is the last day of the LB class when we learn about argumentative essay and debating. I need to make this reflection from what I did in the class during the unit. But overall, we learned how to proof our argument and how to counter or disproof our argument. We learned how to persuade and provoke.
I got 16 marks out of 24. It's not very good mark, but it's pretty good. My teacher said that I put good evidences in the essay, and I refuse the opinions that against my opinion. But next time, I need to work out for my citation. I got no marks for citation, because I forgot to put the bibliography to my essay. And I need to also work out for my thesis statement in the essay. Most of us put the thesis statement in the wrong place, where it's in the first sentence of the first paragraph.
Debating
My teacher said that I was quite expressive when I did the debate. I was the rebuttal, and it's hard for me to rebutt my opponent, because I never be a rebuttal before. While my opponent was very good in debating. So I was just say what are in the notes because I was too nervous. But, I hope I got a pretty good score...

Should the Father of 13 Years Old Boy who Drove a Car and Killed 7 People in a Car Accident Responsible with his Son’s Action?
Sunday, 8th September 2013, 00:45. A 13 years old
boy was driving a car in the highway (Jakarta-Bogor) after he brought back home
his girlfriend in Bogor. The driver drove in the over the speeds limit and hit
a traffic barrier. Then the car jumped over the barrier to the opposite
direction of the highway, and hit a minibus. He killed 7 people and hurts the
other 10 people. But the question is, should the father of 13 years old boy who
drove a car and killed 7 people in a car accident responsible with his son’s
action?
\
Personally, I agree with it. The father should responsible
with it. In Indonesia, children’s rights are quite protected. So, the kid will
also do the punishment, but only the half of it while his father will do the
rest. Quite fair, isn’t it? But, the problem is we are not finding justice, but
finding who should responsible to the action, is it the son or the father. But
from my opinion, the father should responsible with it.
The first reason, the father should responsible because he
allowed his son to drive and know that his son can drive, but the father never
taught him how to drive and he doesn’t know where the kid learned to drive. As
a rule, the father should be able to teach his kid to drive, even if the kid
can drive. Because the father should know how aware he is to the traffic.
The second reason, a driver should have a license to drive.
As a rule, to get a driving license, the driver should be at least 17 years
old. Because the kid is still 13 years old, so do not ask that he have a
license. The answer will always be ‘No’ before he is at least 17 years old. Why
it’s should be 17 years old to get a license drive? Because to drive, a driver
should be at least can control his/her emotion. 17 years old is the age when a
person can be mature. So, to get a license and drive, maturity is needed.
Others may argue that it’s unfair because the kid is the one
should responsible with his action. I understand this point of view. But
however, the kid is still 13 years old, a puberty age. He doesn’t even have a
citizenship card and license. He still lives with his father. And because it’s
also his father’s fault, so he should also responsible with his son’s action.
But it doesn’t mean that the driver shouldn’t responsible. The driver should
also responsible with his action.
So, the conclusion is, the father of 13 years old boy who
drove a car and killed 7 people in a car accident should responsible with his
son’s action. Because it’s also his father’s fault to let him drive…

What I've Learned?
Hello, guys and girls. This is the final post of this blog.
But I hope not. I hope I could continue this blog. But actually, all of the
contents of this blog is my English school project. So, blogging is the unit of
the subject and now, I will reflect about what I did while blogging. The big
question in this post is:
How can we use blogs to explore new ideas, opinions, and
interact with the world around us?
Well, blog is like our digital diary. We write everything about
the opinion about something and an article that we could share. But the difference
is blogs could be seen by the world. So, the world will know the ideas that
come from the author of the blog. And I, as a blogger, also do those things. I
like to summarize something what I know. But I reflected that I gave less
opinions about something.
And also, commenting is a way how to communicate with other
bloggers. We should make a quality comment to make the conversation longer. And
we should not give bad comments. If we want to give feedback, we need to
compliment the author. So, there are no fighting. And if there are bad
comments, remove it. If it’s in another blog, be brave and report it. So,
monitoring the blog is also important to avoid the negative reactions.
So, in my opinion, I’m good at sharing the articles. And I
hope that I’m succesfully compliment an author when I did some commenting. But
from my opinion, my grammar is so... MESSY. And I gave less opinion about my
post and the other post....
So, I hope I can continue this blog, and...
See you in another post

Wayang Philosophy: The Five Pandawas
Hello, guys and girls. I would like to post a new topic that is not related with cans nor wrestling. I'm posting about wayang philosophy. And in this post, I would like to discuss about the five Pandawas. Most of you here knows wayang, an Indonesian (actually Javanese) traditional puppet. But you don't know about the characters. Well, my father used to tell me the story about the five Pandawas when I was a kid. And I'm flash-backing my memories about these five warriors with the help of the internet. Let's start with the introduction of the Pandawas.
From left to right: Yudistira, Bima, Arjuna, Nakula, Sadewa.
Note: This is the Javanese version, not the Indian version. It's a little bit different.
The five pandawas are brothers that raised by same father, Pandu. But, pandawas have two moms. They are Kunti and Madrim. Kunti have 3 kids (Yudistira, Bima, Arjuna) and Madrim have a pair of twin (Nakula & Sadewa). The five warriors are fighting for the Amarta kingdom and against the Korawa kingdom. Let's start with the oldest brother:

Kunti have 3 kids (Yudistira, Bima, Arjuna) and Madrim have a pair of twin (Nakula & Sadewa). The five warriors are fighting for the Amarta kingdom and against the Korawa kingdom. Let's start with the oldest brother:
- Yudistira. He's the oldest brother in the Pandawas. He have the higher prestige than his younger brothers. He's wise and honest. His weapon is spear. He have only one wife, Draupadi and have a kid name Pancawala. Note: Remember, this is the Javanese version. So, the story is a little bit different. In the Indian version, Draupadi have five husbands. And in the Javanese version, Draupadi is only Yudistira's. Because in Javanese version, the story was synchronized with the rules of Islam. In Islam, woman can only have one husband, not more. So, the Javanese version was used for the spreading of Islam in Java.
- Bima. He's the second. He is strongest, scariest, and have a very huge body. So, every citizens scared of him. My father said that when Bima walks, the earth vibrates. Even though he's scary, he have a kind heart. His weapon is club. And he could also use his nails as his weapon. Because his nails are so big. He have three wives. From those three wives, he have 3 kids, each have their specialties. From his marriage with Nagagini, he have a kid named Antareja, that can drill the earth. From his marriage with Arimbi, he have a kid named Gatotkaca, that can fly. And from his marriage with Urangayu, he have a kid named Antasena, that can dive while breathing.
- Arjuna. He's the third. He's the youngest child of Kunti. He is the smartest and the most handsome Pandawa. He made very good strategies in every war. Every citizens amazed with his handsomeness. His weapon is bow and arrow. He's a good archer. Because of his handsomeness and his good strategies, he have 16 wives. Most of the wives are the gifts from fighting competitions.
- Nakula. He's the twin partner of Sadewa. His mom is Madrim. He is the second most handsome and second strongest Pandawa. He is expert in using sword. He have two wives. From his marriage with Sayati, he have a son, Pramusinta, and a daughter, Pramuwati. While from his marriage with Srengganawati, a big turtle that he found in Waliu river, he have a daughter, named Sritanjung.
- Sadewa. He's the twin partner of Nakula. He have a little bit smaller body than his twin partner. Sadewa and Nakula like to serve their elder brothers. He's also wise like his brother, Yudistira. He's expert in astronomy. His weapon is sword. He have only one wife, name Perdapa. From the marriage, he have a daughter, Sayekti, and a son, Sabekti. His kids matched with Nakula's kids, Pramusinta and Pramuwati.
